Renewable energy to support commercial sustainability

Private enterprises and public entities, for example, government agencies and educational institutions, are looking for cleaner energy. Why is sustainable energy so important? Generally speaking, alternative green energy solutions are both cost-effective and eco-friendly. When we take advantage of green energy, we will be more self-sufficient in electricity. The excess of the generated electricity can also be sold back to the power grid. Moreover, as long as the sun shines, sustainable energy solutions are literally found in every corner of the world. There is no need to worry about the depletion of renewable resources. By using renewable energy, companies can become more environmentally conscious and socially responsible.

Geothermal energy is derived from the heat in the Earth. This heat can be harnessed from reservoirs of hot water a couple of miles down below the Earth’s surface. The steam of the hot water drives the turbines to generate electricity. Geothermal energy technology can be part of a commercial utility energy solution on a large scale or part of a sustainable business practice on a local level. Small-scale geothermal power plants, usually fewer than 5 megawatts, have the potential for widespread application in rural areas, possibly even as distributed energy resources to improve electricity delivery system.

Since the ocean covers 70 percent of the surface of the Earth, ocean renewable energy is an evolving sector for alternative energy production. However, commercial and public applications for this energy resource are limited to geography and regulatory guidelines. Compared with other types of renewable energy, ocean energy technology requires inter-governmental cooperation among countries and organizations.

Indirect participation in sustainable energy solutions

Without backgrounds or funds, how can we go along with the trend of being green? Actually, we can embrace indirect alternative energy sources as our commercial utility energy solutions. Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) is a certifying agency which assigns a unique identification number to each REC produced by a green energy provider. Via this agency, we can find many renewable energy examples of cleaner energy sources for our home or businesses. Even though we do not purchase or manufacture any device or equipment, we can still benefit Mother Earth, our health and the future.
