July 26, 2018, Taichung ─ The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Taiwan’s foremost non-profit trade promotion organization, celebrates the opening ceremony of its first-ever edition of SMART ASIA Taiwan Expo & Forum today at the Taichung International Exhibition Center (TCIEC).
Supported by the Taichung City Government, organized by TAITRA, and co-organized by the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT), the Taiwan Intelligent Building Association (TIBA), and PwC Taiwan, the B2B trade show and forum aim to generate business opportunities and boost development for related industries, as well as promote the latest smart city concepts and solutions.
Focusing on the industrial and regional development characteristics of central Taiwan, this year’s Expo features five exhibit areas: Smart Manufacturing, Smart Energy, Smart Transportation, Smart Buildings, and Smart Healthcare. Visitors to the show will see 41 domestic and overseas exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge developments in smart technology for machinery, motor vehicles, home devices, medical equipment, and more.
Key exhibitors include: H.P.B, K-Best, Enercon, UnaBiz, Dassault Systèmes, Tesla, Victory Yin, Wave-in, HSSG, Southern Taiwan Global Research & Industry Alliance, and Feng Chia University. On the other hand, Taiwanese cities are eager to develop Smart City, five of which are participating in the Expo to showcase what they have achieved so far, and are seeking out more smart solutions that would be applied; they are from Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Taichung City, Chiayi City, and Changhua County
Two of the most anticipated highlights of the show are IoT and sensor applications, including a traffic management system by H.P.B, the “Smart Machinery Development Center” solution by Dassault Systèmes, and Ezinstrument’s IoT sensor platform, which has been developed for use in manufacturing, agriculture and aquaculture.
In conjunction with the three-day show, the organizer will host the SMART ASIA Taiwan Forum. A total of 18 international government representatives and industry leaders have been invited as keynote speakers and the hosts of panel discussions at the Forum, where they will address various topics including digital factories, autonomous cars, intelligent public housing, wind farms, and IoT applications in healthcare. The Forum aims to help industries identify the challenges and opportunities of urbanization, and will encourage participants to share their experiences and best practices for creating a Smart City.
The Expo will also enable exhibitors to participate in one-on-one business meetings, which will be arranged based on the procurement requirements of the buyers invited by TAITRA’s overseas offices. Invitees include NEC Group, a Japanese IT technology company with an annual turnover of US$3.87 billion; INDEX Holding, a renowned Dubai-based corporate; Ayatek Technology, a bid-winner for Smart City projects in Turkey; and Rostelecom, a national telecommunications company in Russia and Europe.
