TAITRA introduces COMPUTEX 2018’s aim, 6 main themes and noteworthy special exhibit areas at the press conference held on April 19th
Under the six main themes including AI, 5G, Blockchain, IoT, Innovations & Startups and Gaming & VR, three special exhibit areas to be operated
(April 19, 2018, Seoul, Korea) TAITRA (Taiwan External Trade Development Council) which organizes COMPUTEX TAIPEI (called as COMPUTEX), one of the world’s leading ICT trade shows, held a press conference at Lotte Hotel Seoul on April 19 for introducing key content of COMPUTEX 2018. TAITRA announced that COMPUTEX 2018 will be positioned as an ICT trade show which covers the whole spectrum of ICT industry, under the six main themes including AI, 5G, Blockchain, IoT, Innovations & Startups and Gaming & VR.
COMPUTEX 2018 will be held at Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, and Taipei International Convention Center (TICC) located in Taipei, Taiwan, from June 5th to 9th for 5 days, with an aim of ‘Building Global Technology Ecosystems’. COMPUTEX 2018 is expected to have 1,602 exhibitors from 28 countries worldwide with over 5,015 booths. Also, it is expected that over 40,000 buyers and investors will visit COMPUTEX 2018.
During the welcome remarks, Fang-Miao Lin, Executive Vice President of TAITRA, said that the number of Korean buyers who visited COMPUTEX has increased, and Korea was included in the top 4 countries in terms of the number of international visitors in 2017, showing its high interests in COMPUTEX. COMPUTEX 2018 will be the place where Korean companies can seek to enter the global market beyond the Korean market, by showing their leading products and technologies and by meeting global business partners and investors. At InnoVEX, the dedicated area for startups, there will be a Korean Pavilion to host Korean startups.
At the press conference, Frances Tseng, Product Manager of TAITRA first introduced the 6 main themes of COMPUTEX 2018. Especially 5G and blockchain, which are newly added to the main themes this year, foretold that COMPUTEX will prospect the trends of fast-changing ICT Industry. Three noteworthy special exhibit areas of COMPUTEX 2018 were also introduced; ▲InnoVEX, an exhibit area for startups, which includes forums, pitches, product and solution demos, workshops and networking events, which is operated from June 6th to 8th for 3 days. ▲SmarTEX which mainly exhibits the latest IoT applications including security applications, smart healthcare, wearables, and V2X. ▲iStyle where Apple MFi-certified peripherals are displayed.
Project Manager Ms. Tseng said, “Not only a number of global companies such as Amazon, Intel, NVIDIA, Microsoft, Acer, but also over 300 startups from 19 countries will participate. Especially at InnoVEX, the number of participating startups has increased by 10% compared to last year, and the enlarged country pavilions including pavilions of France, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherland, Poland and Spain will be operated, making COMPUTEX as larger stage of innovation.”
At the press conference, Hong Gina, Head of Marketing of POSBANK, a company which participated in COMPUTEX for 3 consecutive years since 2016 attended as a guest speaker, and spoke about the reasons of POSBANK’s participating in COMPUTEX 2018 and the expectations on this year’s show.
Ms. Hong said, “COMPUTEX is the optimal trade show where we can meet many companies covering the whole ICT industry, and POSBANK‘s sales has increased by 70% in the Southeast Asian market with the participation in COMPUTEX for 3 consecutive years. POSBANK, which has about 120 customer bases in 80 countries in America, Europe and Asia, will continue to actively utilize COMPUTEX as a stepping stone to enter the broader market this year as well.”
Misook Kang, CEO of abenecel, a company which participated in InnoVEX at COMPUTEX 2017, also attended as a guest speaker and said, “COMPUTEX is a trade show which has strong points in hardware, and we recommend to companies seeking for cooperation with Taiwanese hardware companies. Also, as you can meet IT distribution networks of diverse countries including Taiwan, China, Japan, Thailand, and India, we recommend it to startups which want to expand their business in the Southeast Asian market."
