Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) implements the "Green Trade Promotion Program" of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and held the Taiwan Environmental Protection Technology Forum in IE expo China together with Taiwan Environmental Manufacturers Association (TEMA). The forum took place on April 15, 2019, from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm in Shanghai. More than 100 mainland China environmental protection companies attended, and mainstream media including Xinhua News Agency, FJTV, Ta Kung Pao, United Times, People's Daily, China Water & Wastewater, China Broadcasting Network and Sohu, etc., attended the exhibition and interviewed Taiwan's environmental protection companies.
Shanghai Environmental Protection Industry Association President Mr. Chen Jianzhong believes that Taiwan’s environmental protection industry provides products with high functionality at reasonable prices. Therefore, he especially invited 25 members of the association to attend the forum.
Taiwan's environmental protection industry is dominated by SMEs. Wastewater and air pollution treatment are their strengths. They provide pollution control and environmental quality improvement technologies. The themes of the forum were "Industrial Waste Gas Treatment", "Biotechnology and Soil Water Treatment", and "Water and Wastewater Treatment". Seven Taiwan exhibitors were invited (Desiccant Technology Co., Ltd., ICS Technology Co., Ltd., New Sun Group, Sitech Services, Inc., Passal Co., Ltd., Yuan Chang Tsay Industry Co., Ltd. and Hydron Innovation Inc. have announced new advanced and high-efficiency environmental technologies, making local companies attending have high anticipation.
Mainland China is Taiwan’s largest trading partner and the largest export market for Taiwan’s environmental protection industry. In 2018, Taiwan's environmental protection equipment exports to China amounted to 990 million US dollars, comprised of pumps, filters, liquid purification equipment, air pollution control, waste disposal equipment, etc. In recent years, China's environmental protection policy has been clearly defined. The 13th Five-Year Plan for Ecological & Environmental Protection has been published and “Green Development” has been listed as one of the five development concepts. In the future, the scale of China's environmental protection industry is expected to surpass that of the United States and become the world's number one.
In addition, China proposes to achieve an overall improvement in the ecological environment in 2020 and strict control of pollution from emissions. At present, the environmental protection industry in the eastern coastal areas of China accounts for more than 60% of the country's total output value. It also makes the annual scale of the IE expo in Shanghai expand year by year. In 2018, there were 1,762 exhibitors and 6,600 professional buyers.
TAITRA implements the "Green Trade Promotion Program" of the Ministry of Economic Affairs to promote Taiwan's environmental protection industry and help them expand their sales in the international market. TEMA integrates the energy of Taiwan's environmental protection industry to promote sustainable development and trade prosperity both locally and abroad. The two sides will continue to promote Taiwan’s environmental industry in the upcoming ThaiWater and VietWater.
