Game Connection America 2018, the most important deal-making event for the video-game industry, successfully concluded on March 21 at AT&T Park in San Francisco. More than 200 exhibitors and 1,500+ senior decision-makers were reported to have participated and that an estimated 8,000 effective and animated meetings were held during the three-day event, generating promising business opportunities.
TAITRA leveraged its strength to promote the internationalization of Taiwan’s gaming industry and assist industry members in developing international markets. Supported by Taiwan’s Bureau of Foreign Trade, MOEA, TAITRA organized a group of leading game companies to exhibit in this year’s Game Connection America.
The Taiwanese delegation comprised 14 companies, which showcased a variety of games, services and products, including VR games from Pumpkinvrar Studio, mobile games from Auer Media & Entertainment, Moregeek Entertainment, Elephant Jump, USERJOY Technology, XPEC Entertainment, eHooray, Rising Win Tech, art production service from XPEC Art Center, Winking Entertainment, gaming accessories from Zeroplus Technology, digital services from Gamania, Portable Marketing, and Taipei Computer Association, which joined to promote the Taipei Game Show. These companies have experienced in game development, publishing, operating, mobile advertising, marketing services, and art production of content for console, online and mobile games.
The matchmaking system “Let’s Meet” is Game Connection’s main mechanism. It enables developers to find publishing and distribution partners, service providers to find new clients, and publishers and distributors to find the best new games to sign. Taiwanese original creativity and innovative services attracted attention from many gaming professionals who were keen to arrange business meetings with Taiwanese companies. Ultimately, more than 300 meetings came to fruition via “Let’s meet”.
Mobile game《DawnBreak: The Flaming Emperor》 was developed by Auer Media & Entertainment. The game has been authorized for SEA markets. This year, they had 30 qualified meetings with European and American publishers. XPEC Art Center Inc. (XAC), has 10 years of experience with professional art design and creation and have engaged in developing several PS4 and XBOX ONE AAA-classified titles, such as Final Fantasy XV, NBA 2K17 and Horizon: Zero Dawn, etc. XAC also received many game-art outsourcing enquiries. Zeroplus Technology has 20 years of experience manufacturing gaming-related accessories. This time they brought their new brand “Brook” to the US-based show and received countless enquiries due to the product’s uniqueness.
There were more than 14 national delegations and game organizations from all over the world, including from JETRO, KOTRA, GCA, BEKRAF, Brazilian Game Developers, games from SPAIN, ProMéxico, Essential Costa Rica, Argentina Investment and Trade Promotion Agency, SWISSGAMES, The Game Incubator, NORDIC GAME INSTITUTE, Made in Germany, and more. Game Connection is simply the most effective place for new business development for the global gaming industry.
